- What is the difference between static and dynamic QR codes?
- A static code stores the destination directly in the pattern and cannot be changed. A dynamic code stores a redirect, so you can change the destination later without reprinting the code.
- Do static codes expire?
- No. Static codes work permanently because they need no server and no account. At FairQR they are free forever.
- What happens to my dynamic codes if FairQR shuts down?
- If the service is ever discontinued, we will announce it at least 12 months in advance and provide a full export, so you can keep running your redirects yourself.
- Is it really a one-time price?
- Yes. Dynamic codes cost a one-time €29 (Starter, 25 dynamic codes) or €59 (Business, 100 dynamic codes), each incl. VAT. There is no subscription and no monthly fee.
- Who issues the invoice for a dynamic code?
- Purchase and billing are handled by Digistore24 GmbH as the seller (merchant of record). You receive your invoice directly from Digistore24, which also provides the withdrawal terms and the available payment methods. FairQR only provides the software.
- Can I withdraw and get a refund?
- Yes. As Digistore24 is the seller, you exercise your statutory right of withdrawal towards Digistore24. The withdrawal terms shown to you during checkout and in the order confirmation apply. For digital content the right of withdrawal can expire early if you expressly agreed to immediate execution. See our Withdrawal page for details.
- I have purchased. How do I sign in?
- After purchase your plan is active immediately. Sign-in is passwordless: on the sign-in page you enter the email address you purchased with and receive a one-time sign-in link by email. There is no password that can be lost.
- How is this different from Bitly or qr-code-generator.com?
- Those providers are well established and usually offer dynamic codes as part of a subscription. FairQR instead uses a one-time price and full data export. Which fits better depends on whether you prefer ongoing service tiers or predictable one-time costs.
- Can I change the destination after printing?
- With dynamic codes, yes, at any time. The printed pattern stays the same and only the destination behind it changes. Static codes cannot be changed once printed.
- Do you track people who scan my codes? Is it GDPR-compliant?
- Scan statistics are aggregate-only. We set no analytics or tracking cookies and store no IP addresses (only our CDN Cloudflare sets a strictly necessary security cookie, see the privacy policy). Only coarse details are counted: the country (from the network) and the device type (phone, computer, or tablet).
- Can I export my data and leave?
- Yes. You can export all destinations and statistics in full at any time, as CSV, .htaccess, or JSON. You are never locked in to FairQR.
- Do I need an account for the free generator?
- No. You can create static codes for free and without signing up.
- Which QR types can I create?
- The free generator creates static codes for web addresses, Google review links, WhatsApp chats, text, WiFi access, business cards (contact details), SEPA bank transfers (GiroCode), locations, plus email, phone, and SMS. You can also design the code: custom colors, patterns, corners, a center logo, and a gradient. Dynamic codes redirect to a web address that you can change at any time.
- Can I add a call-to-action frame like Scan the menu around the code?
- Yes. In the free generator, under Call-to-action frame, pick a text (for example Scan the menu or Leave a review) and a colour. The frame is drawn right in your browser and downloaded with the code as PNG or SVG. A labelled frame tells passers-by what the code does, so it gets scanned far more often.
- How do I link a menu or a PDF?
- Put the file wherever you already keep content and set that address as the destination of your dynamic code: a shared document in Google Docs or Google Drive, your cloud storage (Dropbox, OneDrive), or a file on your own website (e.g. your-site.com/menu.pdf). This is better for your branding and for scanner trust, because the address visibly carries your own name - and you can swap the file at any time without reprinting the code. FairQR deliberately hosts no customer files.
- Can I create many QR codes at once?
- Yes. The bulk generator lets you paste a list or load a CSV file and get all codes as a ZIP archive. Everything happens in your browser, with no upload and no sign-up.
- Can a QR code route to the App Store or Google Play by device?
- Yes, with a dynamic code and smart routing. You store an App Store and a Google Play address; iPhone users land in the App Store, Android users on Google Play, and everyone else on the general destination.
- What is the subscription-trap check and what does it check?
- The free subscription-trap check tells you whether a QR code runs through a redirect or short-link service that a provider can switch off. You choose an image of the code or paste its destination; the analysis runs entirely in your browser, with no upload. If the code goes through a known service (such as Bitly or QR Tiger), there is a subscription risk. If it points directly at your own address or stores the data itself (such as WiFi or contact details), it is permanently safe.
- Is there a trial that expires?
- No. Static codes are free permanently, with no expiring trial. Dynamic codes are a one-time purchase that you keep, with nothing to renew.
- What is the longevity promise?
- We commit not to shut the service down without warning. If FairQR is ever discontinued, you will normally receive at least 12 months' notice and a full export of your data. Only in exceptional cases outside our control (such as insolvency) may that period be shorter.
